These are some of the most common issues:

  • A1 – Not on the charge point
→ Make sure the stairlift is parked correctly and the power is on
  • C1–C5 – Charging
→ Normal operation (battery charging levels)
  • C6 – Fully charged
    → Everything is working normally
  • C7 / C8 / C9 – Battery fault
→ Could be faulty batteries or charger issue. Often needs an engineer visit.  Battery issues are one of the most common causes of breakdowns
These usually mean something is blocking the stairlift:
  • E1 / E2 – Footrest obstruction
  • E4 / E5 – Carriage obstruction
Check for: Objects on the stairs, carpet catching – items under the footrest
These codes are often triggered by safety sensors detecting an obstruction.
  • E5 / E6 – Seat not in position
→ Ensure seat is facing forward and locked
  • E9 – Key switch off
→ Turn the key back on These are simple fixes and very common
These codes usually mean something more serious:
  • F1 – Relay fault
→ Try turning the lift off and on
  • F2 – Brake fault
→ Often linked to a low battery or brake issue
  • F3 – Motor fault
    → May require an engineer
  • F4 – Motor overcurrent
→ Could be a weight limit or motor issue
  • F5 – Battery fault
    → Try charging—may need replacement

These faults often require professional diagnosis if they don’t reset

  • F6 – Final limit overrun
→ Lift has gone past its normal stop
  • F7 – Overspeed governor (OSG)
→ Safety system triggered—manual reset may be needed
  • F8 – System lockout
→ Try to reset, may need an engineer
For example, F7 often indicates a safety device activation or obstruction issue
Before calling an engineer, you can try:
  1. Turn the stairlift off
  2. Wait 30–60 seconds
  3. Turn it back on
  4. Move it to a charge point
Many minor faults clear with a simple reset.
